Not all learning happens in the classroom – in fact, some of life’s biggest lessons can happen in the least likely locations. Sharing this belief, Cambridge International board has partnered with the International Award for Young People (IAYP) that delivers the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in India.

The IAYPis the world’s leading youth achievement award, and has inspired millions of young people around the world to transform their lives. It equips young people for life regardless of their background, and helps them find their purpose, passion and place in the world.

Sancta Maria International School has registered officially with IAYP to offer our students new ways to broaden their exposure and enhance learning. By offering the Award alongside the academic Cambridge programmes, we will have the opportunity to help Sancta Maria students develop skills such as leadership, teamwork and confidence. We believe by working with the IAYP, we will not only help develop confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged learners but also create opportunities for our young people to develop skills, get physically active, give service to their local community and experience adventure.

The Award is comprised of three levels:

  • Bronze – for those over 13.5 years of age (6 months duration)
  • Silver – for those over 14.5 years of age (12 months / 6 months for Bronze awardees)
  • Gold – for those over 16 years of age (18 months / 6 months for Silver awardees)

Each comprising of four unique sections:

  • Service
  • Skills
  • Physical Recreation
  • Adventurous Journey

Students can apply for any of the above levels based on their age at the time of applying. They have to complete all four sections at each level to achieve their Award.
