The Environment

Sancta Maria International School is located at Serilingampally, near Gachibowli and Hitech City, on a five-acre, eco-friendly campus of 1,70,000 square feet. The ratio between built-up area and open space is 30:70. The campus is divided into two blocks. The first block houses the administrative offices and pre-primary grades, an indoor soft gym, a library and an activity room for free play. The second block houses primary, middle and secondary grades. Both the blocks comprise spacious, well-lit and well-furnished classrooms. Library, Visual Arts Room, Music Room, Dance Room, Activity Room, Math Lab, ICT Lab, Science Labs and two indoor badminton courts are housed in the second block. Sancta Maria is also equipped with a spacious dining hall with in-house cooking facility and an infirmary for sick students, managed by a trained nurse. It also offers day care facility for the children of working parents.

Each classroom at Sancta Maria is air-conditioned, spacious, well-lit and adequately furnished to provide a robust learning environment. All the classrooms have been designed so that each student enjoys about 28 square feet of individual space. Each classroom has been designed to be learning-centric. Every classroom also has unique teacher-managed activities and bulletin boards.

The school has two libraries – one for pre-primary students in the old academic block and the main library with 12,000 books in the new academic block. The library plays an integral part in the delivery of the curricular programme. The library serves students, parents and the faculty with its vast collection of print and non-print materials. It provides supporting material for learning in the classrooms and helps impart knowledge to enable students become literate, well-informed and ready to face the world.

Students regularly visit the library along with their class and are also free to visit it individually to research or browse anything that interests them. In addition, several library events are organized each year, offering a wide variety of activities that inculcate the spirit of inquiry along with a love for reading in each student.

The library facility also functions as a media centre for the school and as a printing centre for the secondary students. Subscriptions to online libraries and databanks are maintained by the Library and the IT Department and are accessible to students and teachers. All audio-visual material (software and hardware) of the school is accessible at the Library. The Teacher’s Resource Area in the Library has an up-to-date collection of professional books, periodicals and catalogues from experts in the field of education from around the world.

The amphitheatre, with a seating capacity of 1500, is more than just a space for getting together to perform shows or functions. Architecturally, it bridges the two buildings and, in fact, serves as the veritable soul of the institution. This is the space where students catch up with their friends during recess time and have arcane arguments, intellectual debates or just plain exchange of enjoyable banter. This venue also acts as the area for open-air classroom sessions, functions, events and get-togethers.

Sports Facilities

Sancta Maria International School is a home to world-class sports facilities like a soccer field, cricket practice nets, basketball and tennis courts and indoor table tennis and badminton courts. The younger kids have their own play zones in the form of a sand pit, an indoor soft gym, an obstacle course with play decks and a one-of-its-kind tree house atop a huge tamarind tree. All students are encouraged to participate in all sports. Children who excel or are especially interested in a particular sport or game are given extra coaching after school hours. The school has partnered with a company that offers specialized training in sports to all students.
